Growth Product Manager

ABOUT US

Connect The Dots (CTD) is a San Francisco venture-backed start-up founded in February 2019 with the mission of revolutionizing the way professional relationships are managed.  We’ve quietly raised money from top-tier investors while in stealth mode.  

We are preparing to exit the closed beta shortly.  Our next major challenge is to architect for scale. The product is a hybrid consumer/business application building a behavior-based social graph based on massive amounts of historical emails and other data sources.  Scaling this graph is an order of magnitude more complex than current state-of-the-art global social graphs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Growth Product Manager will own Connect The Dots user growth end-to-end:  From ideas to design to implementation to instrumentation to optimization.

Your goals will be to:

  • First, and most importantly, grow the total number of Connect The Dots users - balancing product-led growth features & tools for both free individual and paid enterprise users.
  • Grow daily, weekly, and monthly active users.
  • Grow our data sources - the number of email accounts that users have connected to the system (more email accounts == more data == better experience for everyone).
  • Grow the average network score of our users (the network score is a measure of how well “connected” our users are – which is to say:  we don’t care about adding lots of spammers but we do care about adding people with extensive rich networks of connections)
  • Grow our K-factor / virality:  How users influence other users to join.

You’ll report to our Head of Product and work closely with our Design & Engineering teams to shepherd your growth plans into production.

You’ll participate in our planning cycles to advocate for and prioritize your growth plans, balancing specific functionality within the limitations of our finite resources and development process.

You’ll advocate for and build your feature teams, participate in design reviews, and provide feedback and revisions to the entire team as your growth ideas come to life.

You’ll write & manage detailed product specifications.
You’ll work w/ our engineering team to scope those specifications, budget the work, answer questions, and knock down any roadblocks that get in their way.

You’ll build and monitor analytics reports, dashboards, and funnels to unlock the power of data to track product usage and inform your next steps.

You’ll own the growth funnel and all of its optimizations:  What’s working, what’s not working, and what needs more study?

This role requires a spectrum of skills from traditional product management to data analysis / analytics to product marketing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be comfortable owning the entire growth funnel, top to bottom, start to finish.
  • Have a big-picture understanding of what it takes to build a great product and how to attract the right users:  Growth for the sake of growth without an eye for our target users will miss the mark.
  • Have an outstanding intuitive understanding of how digital products should work.  
  • Be knowledgeable about product design, passionate about building excellent, functional, and useful products (but also know your own limits and biases). 
  • Be customer-facing:  Product managers at Connect The Dots have regular close contact with our users.  You should be able and eager to organize regular conversations and feedback sessions.
  • Be hands-on:  The Product team does not sit in an ivory tower;  You should be be fluent in SQL, comfortable with modern instrumentation & automation tools (we use Segment, Mixpanel, FullStory, Customer.IO, and others), and be comfortable working directly with these tools every day.
  • Have a great understanding of how to make good engineering tradeoffs. 
  • Be extremely detail-oriented and organized. 
  • Be an excellent communicator (in both written and spoken English). 
  • Be able to help build our content library on the features you deliver:  Write blog posts, FAQs, and helpsite documentation and record explainer videos for our users. 
  • Be comfortable in a fast-moving organization;  That means being able to deal with ambiguity (on occasion) and chaos (on occasion) and execute a clear vision.
  • Be willing and excited to travel to our offices in Belgrade (Serbia),  San Francisco (CA),  and other locations where we hold meetings and/or work together for periods of time.
